Finished writing chapter two of my novel. I shall begin writing chapter three on Monday.

World of Valao #3

In the world of Valao, magic is a way of life in that everyone can use magic. Basic magic replaces electricity, serves as a sort of telekinesis, sends information, brings temporary, weak sentience, and can be used as a sort of force. Every person’s magic has a signature that is slightly different from everyone else’s; this is used to identify a person in the advanced technology of Valao. The majority of the Valao population are only capable of basic magic although there are few here and there who have additional magical abilities such as divination or summoning.

The rest of Velira’s populace are either mages or magisters. Both classes can wield and perform more powerful magic such as control over the elements, the opening of portals, transforming the living and non-living into other forms, and etcetera - often with the application of magic circles. The difference between mages and magisters is that mages are more common, limited in magical stamina, have specific eye colors to identify them, and are not as strong as the magisters who have been tasked with the duty to maintain harmony in magic.

Mages are physically identified by the color of their eyes talso dictate where they are in the dichotomy of which celestial body they gain their magical strentgth from. Mages that have icy blue or violet eyes are lune mages as they depend on the twin moons to recharge their magical stamina while soli mages with their red or amber eyes obviously gain their power from the sun. The wish to conserve their magical stamina occurs depends on which astronomical body is reigning.

Magisters can be identified if they have either an obscure eye or hair color like puce or chartreuse. Unlike mages and more like those with less powerful magic, their magical energy is endless. However, to use powerful magic they have to use their talents - be it music, art, dance, or poetry - which they will be ridiculously gifted in.

Then there are the shionai, creatures of the fantasy and supernatural, who are essentially magical and mischievous in nature. Very few are actually outright malevolent. They occupy a world that may or may not be the underworld itself.

World of Valao #2

No one bats an eye upon seeing same-sex relationships in the world of Valao or the range of genders that exist. The former has always been accepted while the latter is much more recent due to the war that started over a certain Soliruan emperor actually being a chick and sentenced to death because of this. There used to be a strict rule that only empresses could rule Lunith and only emperors could rule Soliru, but that has also changed because of the war. Guess where I got my title from?

fgajfkslfjklfj LOVE YOUUUUUU

Haha, thanks. I was going to make the Lunithians and Soliruans different sorts of Asian and just have the shionai and magisters be any other race because there is a sad lack of Eastern modern fantasies - besides Avatar. However, I was like why not just mix them up together? So, yeah, there we are. Valao is supposed to portray a more advanced, magical Earth anyways with a blend of Western and Eastern culture - definitely more of the latter though with the names and creatures.

World of Valao

So in my novel, every race has pretty much mixed long ago in Valao. Some people still turn out to look more Asian, Caucasian, Arabic, Semitic, Hispanic, African, etc, but there are essentially two ethnicities: Lunithian and Soliruan. Soliruans just basically have darker skin compared to Lunithians. I imagine there are still conflicts because of that, but it’s more of the culture clash than skin color.

Rewriting the first chapter of The Illicit Emperor again, so disregard the last draft unless you don’t mind imperfection or need a laugh at how horrendous it is.

Elise Garron was this. I originally intended Airun and Kara to be the reincarnated lovers and Elise was just the best friend who was along for the ride. Then I noticed that Kara and Elise were a little too close…

The Illicit Emperor: Chapter One

The rough draft with a word count of 2718.

The pen wavered. Then, as Kara let out a trembling breath, she ground its poor point against her planner. Another box was crossed out; another day had gone on by. Only a wall of six blank boxes now resolutely stood between an army of X’s and the lonely soldier, the solitary box that read: LAST DAY

Elise swung open the car door. “That’s not what I meant. We’re leaving the car.”
“L-Leaving the car?” Kara sputtered. “Then how do you intend we travel? Apparition? A blue police box?”

In his previous life, Torance was known as “The Wandering Prince” as he would get so lost that he would end up in other worlds often. This is due to a curse that was cast on him at birth. It has been toned down severely in his new life - a misfortune for the person who waits for him in another world.

Incomplete Scenes #8

These are a series of snippets of the lives of Elle and Kara that I never quite finished but I want to share them anyways. Some of them were meant for my novel, some will be in my novel but tweaked, some of them are scenes inbetween certain points, etc.
